Anyone else ready for a fresh new start? 2018 has been one of the __________ years, and I am leaving that blank there on purpose because there are too many adjectives that could be placed there. Between health challenges, job changes, lost friendships and other unexpected events, it has been a roller coaster year. I have been looking forward to a new start in 2019.
I have seen God’s providence and goodness in so many ways. As I was thinking of this blog, this verse kept popping in my head.
Why am I waiting for January 1st to start over if God’s mercies are new each morning and He is faithful? I need to stop looking back at the past year(s) and embrace each day as another opportunity to watch God at work in my life and others around me.
So, come on, New Year’s Eve and 2019. Each day is a new beginning with a loving Heavenly Father whose mercies are new each morning. I can trust Him to care for me just like He did every day last year and all the years before. I don’t have to wait for the ball to drop in Time’s Square or some date on the calendar. Each day is going to be great. Let’s get this day started!
P.S. I also keep thinking of the Anne of Green Gables quote –
