In a brief moment, things in your life can blow apart with no way of repair. This is the anniversary of one of those moments. You try to play by the rules, be loyal and fair, keep your head down and keep swimming (keep swimming, keep swimming), but then the unfair happens. You did not plan for it. You did not think it was possible. You cannot imagine life any different than it was 10 minutes ago before IT happened. You don’t see the good…
But God (my favorite two-word phrase).
I love the story of Joseph from the old testament, you know, that young kid with his coat of many colors. He probably felt invincible in the treasured garment his dad had made just for him. But very soon his life changed and changed and changed in ways he never would have imagined or planned. And he just went with it. I am sure he struggled and prayed a lot, but he faithfully did the next task that was given him. And God blessed him in ways only God could envision. (If you have not read Joseph’s story, pop over to Joseph’s story when you are finished reading this post.)
A year out from one of those moments, I am so grateful for the change. What I thought was a huge betrayal has turned into one of the biggest blessings of my life. God has a way of doing that for those of us who look for Him to put the pieces back together in a way that makes a more beautiful picture…and life.
At the time, I could not have imagined my life the way it is now. But I am grateful to a loving God who could see the big picture. I am thankful for the changes because I have seen His faithfulness in all of it. And I encourage anyone who is reading this who has had a “What just happened??” moment to seek the answers from a loving God.
If you need someone to cheer you on as you are going through one of these awful and confusing moments, reach out to me here at this blog. I would love to write with you as you seek His resolution.
Here is a little Third Day video to go along with this life lesson.
